Peter Pan, one of my favorite books/plays and the partial namesake of this blog, has a generation spanning appeal. I grew up on the Mary Martin version but the 2003 adaptation is probably truest to the original. Despite terrible reviews I also love Hook, which in my opinion is the only movie to have gotten the appearance of flying right. As far as written work I don't think Barrie's original play can be topped. The novel, an adaptation of the play, has a darker undertone of which I'm not as fond. No-one can dispute the pervading playfulness of any of his works, however, which in the end captures our hearts.
